Pro-science. Pro-critical thought. Pro-democracy. No use for idiots and liars of any political stripe. The centre has to hold or the wheel comes apart. I’ve no use for anyone’s ideological purity tests.
Well if she’s truly a federalist (she’s not), she’ll take the out this offers her and say “we’re not going to vote on separation this year because we’re not in a good place financially. Maybe later.” And drop the question.
February 11, 2026 at 9:45 PM
Yes, all the charts and logic in the world will change exactly zero minds among those committed to separation. Laying out the consequences in real terms, anchored in facts, is better.
February 11, 2026 at 9:41 PM
Yeah, I did, and I’m rejecting your premise that only downtown Edmonton would vote to stay. I can do both, and ask you to go away now.
February 11, 2026 at 7:07 PM
Agreed, it’s symbolic, and I don’t know how many of these republicans are standing for reelection and would face consequences. The SCOTUS vote is what matters, and they’re clearly dragging their heels over it, trying to soften the impact on Trump.
February 11, 2026 at 7:05 PM
You’re not thinking if that’s the conclusion you draw from my posts, as it’s quite possibly the biggest non sequitur I’ve encountered in a long time. Go away.
February 11, 2026 at 6:58 PM
Attack their despicable values and you harden their resolve. Remember Clinton’s “deplorables” comment? They’re now running the US.
February 11, 2026 at 6:56 PM
And if that’s all you think will vote to stay, then you’re wrong. And my argument against Ottawa coming in all hot with counterarguments stands.
February 11, 2026 at 6:54 PM
Thing is, you’re preaching to the choir here, Thomas.
February 11, 2026 at 6:52 PM
Figures.

What do you think will happen if Ottawa comes in raging with “this is what will happen to you if you devote even one brain cell to the thought of leaving”? Big, big boost to the separatist messaging about Ottawa persecution and oppression.

Sit down.
February 11, 2026 at 6:43 PM
Of course they would be. They’d then live in the one-party white ethno-state of their dreams.
February 11, 2026 at 6:40 PM
Rational arguments won’t sway them, I agree. It’s about tribal identity.
February 11, 2026 at 6:38 PM
Easy to say when you don’t live in Alberta, isn’t it?
February 11, 2026 at 6:36 PM
Oh, I have imagined.
February 11, 2026 at 6:26 PM
No such thing as an independent US state.
February 10, 2026 at 9:20 PM
Morning sickness is a bitch. And so is she. I hope it’s making her life utterly miserable.
February 10, 2026 at 9:17 PM
Close!
February 10, 2026 at 9:16 PM
Apparently we annexed part of Michigan, according to Leavitt.
February 10, 2026 at 9:08 PM
Further addled by pregnancy hormones. Which, btw, most women keep their marbles while pregnant, but not this one.
February 10, 2026 at 9:06 PM
We just annexed part of Michigan and didn’t even know it!
February 10, 2026 at 9:05 PM
Made up facts, again.
February 10, 2026 at 9:04 PM
We need more than 8,000 chargers. Big EV fan, btw. Put your dukes down.
February 10, 2026 at 9:02 PM
I was in a UK pub a few years ago during Trump 1.0 and was asked what part of the US I was from. I said I was Canadian. Everyone within earshot visibly relaxed.
February 10, 2026 at 9:01 PM
I’ve done similar to find out if I’m officially British. Turns out I am; I just need to register. Prob is, I think the UK is in worse shape than we are atm.
February 10, 2026 at 8:58 PM
Erm. How many gas stations are there between Halifax and Victoria?
