Layer on top of this, that House Dems helped Johnson keep his job when MTG tried to vacate him from the post in May ‘24. MTG's changing role since then was "very interesting" to Jeffries, but he told me he does NOT regret that move. "Every moment calls for the best possible decision." 3/x

Given Speaker Johnson keeping the House out, delaying Grijalva's swearing in, another funding fight in Jan -- how does Jeffries see their relationship? "I wouldn't suggest there's acrimony," he told me, pushing back when I used that word. "but certainly there are going to be challenges” ahead. 2/x
