🇨🇦Aspiring philosopher with a penchant for justice, accountability and enduring conflict resolution.
Retired after 40 years in healthcare.
I support universal healthcare and strive to preserve it for all Canadians.
Centrist, realist, empath, Canadian!
Can anyone explain how this new approach is in keeping with the principles of the Canada Health Act?

A province found in contravention of the act can have funding removed from their yearly allotment. An ineffective method of enforcement as it is after the fact.

Do we want universal HC or not?

I kinda doubt that if it passed a road test without any glaring issues that it’s a lemon. There’s a lot of value left in some of these older cars and having an honest and knowledgeable mechanic is all that is needed to keep them on the road.
It’s an adventure and without needing a mortgage payment!

I bought my daughters a 2000 Honda Accord 7years ago for ~$3400. It had 160k and had one owner, some surface rust and the expected amount of common repairs.
They added 60k and then the rad went and other areas needed attention but it got them through school A great deal.

Add CAA for $125yr*

•invoices for above with points for Toyota service
•preventative maintenance records (was it followed and complete)
•tires
•road test - any red flags, runs rough, hesitates, burns oil, brakes poorly….
•twist open oil filler cap and look under the cap for white film or foam, not good

As others have mentioned, have it inspected by a mechanic that you trust.
Their inspection will give you a good idea of the status of the car.

Consider:
•single owner
•original paint-no collisions
•list of all previous work (brakes, exhaust, radiator, AC, timing belt, struts, transmission)/2

I’ve been aware of NA politics since Diefenbaker and JFK.
I have never heard a Vice President, from No. 36, Nixon to No.49, Harris utter such disrespectful language toward an ally and neighbour.

It will take a lot of meaningful dialogue to repair these damaged relationships.

The words “Mature Trees” should ignite special protection.

In ON, buildings that have historic, architectural or cultural significance
can be deemed a “heritage structure” and as such are protected from demolition or significant alteration.

Let’s protect a critical source building material!'

An outsider’s perspective:
Armed paramilitary types wearing sunglasses, facial coverings and without a warrant demand that a US citizen open her car window and provide identity papers or they will break the window. When asked, the purported LEOs do not provide their identity or a warrant.

According to the Hill Times:

“These symbols have been and remain prohibited in the Coast Guard per policy,” said Adm. Kevin Lunday, acting Coast Guard Commandant”

Many media outlets are claiming that the symbols are being removed as symbols of hate. Developing for sure!

“Scientists at CDC were completely blindsided by the page update.”

Working in research is a passion, an endless trudge through the mire to seek the questions. Occasionally it concludes with a new understanding but more often it does not. And on it goes.

Of course executive pay increased for many recipients of the SDF, they were compensated for obtaining SDF funds regardless of scoring low on their application. It requires a lot of pity work such as sourcing sports seats, scheduling trips and hotels, restaurants to reserve…

The Canada Health Act states:

Residents must have reasonable access to health services without financial or other barriers; extra-billing and user-fees for insured services are not permitted.

The enforcement of the act is by a claw-back of federal funding, an ineffective tool; but use it!

Particularly when govts keep underfunding education, health and social programs, explaining that we can’t afford these yet provide for the corporations, the wealthy, the lobbyists and themselves.

Govt policy and tilted philosophy doesn’t feed hungry Canadians.

Well isn’t he a bucket of empathy.
I can agree that it should frighten us that families can’t afford to feed their families but nothing else.

What he is saying is a that assistance to the public from any level of government shouldn’t happen but assistance such as corporate welfare is a good thing!

This is alarming:

“Anesthesiologists in Calgary are being scheduled by senior Alberta health managers, in response to government directives, to work in CSFs, sometimes against their will”

Reality>
“Physicians on staff at a hospital are independent contractors, not employees of the hospital”

When will the fed min of health, Marjorie Michel intervene?
How many $ will be clawed back under CHA?

“Both said they resent being directed to help establish the for-profit surgery industry in Alberta when there are clear signs it is undermining the timely care of patients in the public system.”

Maybe a thousand…

If you believe these women and the accusations that they have made, then can you believe that these files, that contain their stories, remain hidden from scrutiny.

For decades they have, and continue, to suffer in ways that we cannot, and do not wish to imagine.

Make it end.

In ON, private clinics are offering diagnostic imaging with the sales line of “Peace of Mind is a Scan Away” as opposed to being based upon the recommendation of a qualified practitioner or as part of a provincially supported screening program.

How does this mesh with the Canada Health Act?

As a supporter of vaccines I take no pleasure in knowing people accept vaccines. I am pleased however knowing that collectively we are working toward lessening disease and suffering./6

If their decision not to vaccinate isn’t based upon a medical concern but of a personal sovereignty philosophy then I am at a loss as to how to discuss this with them as it reminds me of the child rant “you’re not the boss of me”.

Their decision not to vaccinate comes with a responsibility to understand how their decision can affect others; just as driving while impaired, or while exhausted, or too quickly on an icy road; these decisions may severely impact others.

Parents with immunosuppressed children or infants and toddlers (<12 months) who are not yet vaccinated might be angry about this just as pregnant “moms to be”, the elderly and so on.
