Many of us have significant support needs in areas where no support is available or it's unreliable at best - like emotional regulation, that we are unable to do much stuff without assistance. If we don't have assistance, we don't do it and then if we don't do it, no one sees we have a support need.

Please believe autistics who tell you they are not “hinting” with their body language and facial expressions, and that they mean what they say—without subtext. No, it's not reasonable for them to "try harder" and deploy body language and facial expressions like non-autistic people do. 11/
