Something I do that is within my power to support the liberation of Palestinians is the BDS consumer boycott

I also periodic call my senators and ask them to oppose sending weapons to Israel

Something simple that I do to support Palestinian liberation and that you can do too is participate in the BDS movement

BDS is Palestinian led and global and focuses on targeted boycotts - just 12 companies on the priority list at moment!

I see it too!!

to me it looks like the two ends are consistent and then it's random in between. Definitely hard for me to look at the unanimity among the 8 senators from the 4 left most states (VT, MD, MA, HI) and not think there's something going on

Earlier today I made a post claiming that Mamdani is more popular among Jewish NYC voters than among the all NYC voters

That assertion is not supported by the data available and I retract it.

Polling shows that Mamdani is the top candidate among Jewish voters, but even more popular overall

Going to start a false folk etymology that

“Gerrymandering” is using “gerry” to refer to Germans and the word is a reference to the shifting political maps of the territory of the electors of the Holy Roman Empire, which included non-contiguous estates

“Check out this gerrymander!!”

As predicted in 2012 the Republicans are addressing “majority minority” trajectory by integrating some (Republican voting) Latine Americans into whiteness

This is a pretty small sample of the survey though so I would be open to contradicting data

This is new housing starts in the US

What caused the drop in housing starts?

A) new anti-housing regulations

B) real estate bubble bursting and causing global financial crisis destroying the industry, which has spent the last 15 years trying to recover

Yeah I mean a big component of what the chart is capturing is changes in workforce participation and not wage changes

55% gap in participation in 1948, 35% gap in 1970, 10% gap in present day

It’s also the age the pay gap really kicks in and patriarchy starts paying a $$$ dividend to most men

hooks saw a trend of men being open to feminism until they hit mid career and were really getting $$$ because of patriarchy

Glad to see that having almost exclusively queer friends is normal for me as a trans woman

- 63% of trans adults surveyed said that most or all of their friends are queer, a big outlier from the general queer population which was 28%

Hard for me to look at the “trans” category being 29% men vs 12% women and not think they are just bad at surveying trans women

I don’t think there’s 2.4x as many trans men as trans women

Could that possibly be true??

Holy Trans Baby Boom Transman

I wonder if part of my experience of family reaction is different as someone who didn’t transition until I was 30

Is it easier to be non-accepting of a teen than an independent adult?
June 2, 2025 at 4:50 PM
Damn the numbers for trans accepting parents and extended family are BLEAK

Grateful to be in the lucky 10%-30% 😬😬

About 3,000 cities >10,000 people

And about 3,900 campuses, so double the funding and I think we could double the campuses

Realistically I guess we would do more expansion of existing than building new

2024 Democratic voter registration looked really bad - what are your favorite orgs that do voter registration?

This matters for all elections, not just Presidential ones
May 20, 2025 at 7:22 PM
I'm kind of curious about the NYC vs. Oakland history because in Oakland the "progressive" candidate the past two elections did better in more Black parts of the city and the "centrist" candidate did better in whiter parts of the city
