Anyone can overcome adversity. But it takes real strength to complain and then give up.

You know you're getting to a certain age when your partner asks you to take off your readers during sex. Not sure if I ruined the moment.

Doomstone, a 12th-century stone carving located in the crypt of York Minster in England. Like something out of omen. The carvings are all demons and devils.

Since my friend gave me a cutting of this plant (Echinops bannaticus) saying bees love it, I've been amazed that as soon as it flowers, it's covered in bees. From the colour and smell, I think it tastes like Parma violets, but I haven't got a proboscis small enough to get a taste! Gutted.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if your house is too hot at the moment, then open all internal doors and open your attic/loft door. Trust me, you will thank me. Oh, and close the attic door before it gets too late because it will get really cold at night.

What is the collective noun for reform voters? Is it a shower of t*ats? Or a set of baste*ds? I can never remember.

Percy Shaw was driving over the dark moors where I live. When a cat ran in front of him, he saw the reflection in its eyes from his headlights and had the idea for cat's eyes, which are now in roads all over the world. If the cat was facing the other way, he could have invented the pencil sharpener.
