It’s an awful story, though I suspect not unique. Writing is a strange occupation. We mostly get paid either twice or at best four times a year, well in arrears, with no idea how much until the royalty statements arrive. We then have to trust the statements are accurate. I’ve been lucky (I think).

The govt only locked down when they did because people were already voting with their feet - cancelling football matches and other events, generally not going out.

Are there many asylum seekers who wouldn’t be destitute without some govt support? Most are destitute even with it.
