Today was transactionally chaotic for the Red Sox.

Red Sox promote three to 40-man roster, cut Nathaniel Lowe, and make four trades - The Boston Globe
Lowe was the 40-man-roster casualty following a trade: reliever Luis Guerrero to the Rays for utility infielder Tristan Gray.

Alex Hoppe has been dealt to Seattle. AS a righty with a triple-digits fastball, he was a good candidate to get picked in the Rule 5 draft. The Sox instead get catcher/1B Luke Heyman, who was a 14th rounder out of Florida this year.

The Red Sox acquired UT Braiden Ward from the Rockies for Bernardino.

And as part of their flurry of moves, the Sox have dealt lefthander Brennan Bernardino to the Rockies for a minor leaguer.

The Red Sox acquired C Ronny Hernandez from the White Sox in the deal sending LHP Chris Murphy to Chicago.

Can confirm that the Sox are adding David Sandlin, Shane Drohan, and Tyler Uberstine to their 40-man roster. Chris Cotillo of MassLive had that trio first.

As promised, it's a day of trades. The Sox acquire IF Tristan Gray (who is on the 40-man) from the Rays for RHP Luis Guerrero (who isn't on the 40-man). To clear a 40-man spot, the Sox DFA'd Nathaniel Lowe, who was going to be non-tendered (rather than offered arbitration) later this week.
This can also be a day of trades of players who a team isn’t going to protect and of players who might be peeled off the 40-man roster to open spots for those who are added. So: Updates on all those fronts to come as the day progresses.

It’s the day for teams to add players to the 40-man roster for the sake of protecting them from the Rule 5. I’d guess the Sox make 2 adds: RHP David Sandlin (big arm, great pitch shapes, but struggled in Triple-A after a move to the bullpen) and LHP Shane Drohan (35% K rate in Worcester in ‘25).

David Ortiz wants power. Pedro Martinez wants a co-ace (Tarik Skubal?) alongside Garrett Crochet. Tarik Skubal wants … nothing to do with trade rumors. That and more (in a joint notebook with @peteabeglobe.bsky.social): www.bostonglobe.com/2025/11/14/s...

Interestingly, Aroldis Chapman said his recently publicized comments about the Yankees were from a video filmed a couple years ago. That said, he said he’s very happy to be with the Red Sox - and to know he will be back in Boston in ‘26.

At the end of the GM Meetings, Craig Breslow reiterated that the Red Sox’ priorities remain starting pitching and a middle-of-the-order bat. What about relief? That, and updates on the team’s Bregman outlook and the question of Kristian Campbell in winter ball: www.bostonglobe.com/2025/11/13/s...

Boras on whether Bregman would accept another contract structure like last year's shorter-term, higher-dollar agreement w/the Sox: "I'm not going to discuss contract terms, but it's a way different market when you don't have a qualifying offer. You just have a lot more teams involved."
