Man, Pixar's 'Luca' is good. Very pleasant surprise, up there with Pixar's best (e.g. Toy Story 2, Coco) for me. Not as melodramatic & flashy as some, but I am WEARY of that. Great characters, genuine emotion, specific evocative detail, visual whimsy - charming, understated, lovely.

Man, Pixar's 'Luca' is good. Very pleasant surprise, up there with Pixar's best (e.g. Toy Story 2, Coco) for me. Not as melodramatic & flashy as some, but I am WEARY of that. Great characters, genuine emotion, specific evocative detail, visual whimsy - charming, understated, lovely.

Anyone into postmodern noir I think may enjoy The Kid Detective (streaming on Channel4). Mostly played as wryly comic pastiche serving the theme of lost youth and squandered potential, but actually quite effective as noir in its own right. Bit tonally clashing at times, but I think that's the point.

I don't post much but am mildly obsessed with #FPL.
This is my team; solid start so far. Salah, Haaland, defcon value mids.
Last season I chased team value (quite successfully) but plan to buy Haaland for backend of season turned out bad, so am going for more careful transfers this time.

The Phoenician Scheme: is good (in the usual way I like stuff). Continues great current run of Wes Anderson (French Dispatch, Asteroid City). Inventive, whimsical, baffling, symmetrical, etc: yes. Too hyper-stylised to easily emotionally connect to, but with moments of genuine pathos: yes.

The Ballad of Wallis Island is GREAT, strong recommend. Funny, poignant, understated, has stuff to say about the passage of time & processing emotions, but also art (specifically music) & who it's for (artist vs audience). Is my exact kind of thing, but not even 4-star, I'm calling 5-star. Great.

Anyone remember the Newcastle local music scene of mid-00s? I've been digging through old CDs and found three compilations from Hipster Deathkill 3000/Vortex Pop - but no track names! Found deets for these two on Wayback Machine but 'View To A Deathkill' eludes me (for now! - any tips appreciated!)

GW25 benching thoughts anyone? Kerkez vs Munoz but mainly who to bench in attack. Seems mad to compare MCI(A) & EVE(H) but genuinely not sure which is more appealing (Mbeumo & Palmer surely fixture-proof & decent fixtures anyway, can't bench doublers or attacker vs SOU so am in a quandary) #FPL

How was I unfamiliar with this 1992 banger till picking it up in a charity shop yesterday?? I'd mostly associated BNH with later poppier stuff. Great funk & varied rap flow. I'm not most knowledgeable about hip hop, but if you enjoy stuff like DJ Format and Jurassic 5, it's a strong recommend!
