Wow , I totally missed this paper. Thanks.

Thanks, that's flattering. But, mind you, I'm already happily married to the University of Sydney!

Thanks to the conference organizers, and to my talk co-author @philobolobstime.bsky.social, and my preprint co-authors @pietropollo.bsky.social , @martonkovacs.bsky.social , & Losia Lagisz!

The easiest thing, that any article author can do, is: include ORCID numbers in parentheses after names of individuals in acknowledgments.
For more, including on metadata and recommended journal and publisher reforms, see our preprint: osf.io/preprints/me...

...many leaders in the field are still seeking prestige from a few for-profit, rent-seeking journals.

I meant admission by authors of other studies, not Lisa's studies, of course, which have no corporate/commerical sponsors.

I think the environmental figures and overall environmental claim is wrong. A prompt is equivalent to 18 sec of an incandescent bulb's usage, not 20 min open.substack.com/pub/andymasl...
Using ChatGPT is not bad for the environment - a cheat sheet
The numbers clearly show this is a pointless distraction for the climate movement

We suggest that what e.g. statistical consultants can do is, when they provide their advice, share a pre-filled tenzing Google sheet with their information, saying something like "In case you think it appropriate to put me in the Acknowledgments, here's my info. You might find this useful anyway

One service unit at my university told me that's a major problem for them - they provide expert advice at the beginning of a project, and by the time, often years later, that the researchers submit their manuscript, the service unit people have been completely forgotten!

any feedback.
We have upgraded tenzing.club to help researchers manage acknowledgee information and report it in their manuscripts, blogpost: contributorshipcollaboration.github.io/blog/release...
This tenzing upgrade also helps with the problem of forgetting who you were meant to acknowledge!

Rather than a "Limitations" section now common in some areas of science, our preprint includes a lengthy "Objections and responses" section, phillosophy paper style. I'm sure that section will comprehensively answer all your criticisms and concerns. osf.io/preprints/me...
But seriously, we'd love

3. In research outputs, include acknowledgees in JATS-XML in similar fashion to authors, but without the author tag. Optionally include CRediT information.

We lay out how publishers can do this using the existing JATS and CrossRef standards.
November 17, 2025 at 10:19 PM
Journal editors can also help by encouraging inclusion of ORCiD numbers.

2. In manuscript submission systems, solicit identities, ORCIDs, and the contributions of acknowledgees in the same way as co-authors.

We're interested in working with publication systems on this.
