#VWFC WIN AND ADVANCE TO THE CONFERENCE FINAL!!

Truly an all time MLS game, and it ends with the biggest playoff win of the Vancouver Whitecaps MLS era. What an unhinged start, middle and ending
November 23, 2025 at 5:41 AM
Incredible. One of the best halves I've seen from #VWFC, at least considering the magnitude of the match

Completely tilted the field on and off the ball with the way they attacked and pressed

LAFC has LOTS to do in the second half - but they're still in this one
November 23, 2025 at 3:31 AM
And #VWFC have another!!

This time, it’s Mathías Laborda on a set piece

Whitecaps are absolutely flying before half time, and they’re doing so by using old school methods
November 23, 2025 at 3:29 AM
#VWFC GOAL!!

What a ball from Yohei Takaoka, and an even better finish from Emmanuel Sabbi

Whitecaps have been cooking this half. 1-0 in the 40’ now

#VWFC vs LAFC, for a spot in the Western Conference final, let’s get it

(And as a bonus, Denis Bouanga's shot map is a true work of art)
November 22, 2025 at 2:17 AM
As for LAFC, you can't help but be drawn into the way that Denis Bouanga and Heung-Min Son use their dribbling ability on the counter-attack. Just look at these attacking carries...
November 22, 2025 at 2:17 AM
One thing to watch out for from #VWFC? Their ability to flood the box with numbers, which allows them to create dangerous chances in central areas

Just look at the quality of shots they took in 2025!
November 22, 2025 at 2:17 AM
Lots of great viz from the @americansocceranalysis.com made it into this article, such as these two - look at how dominant #VWFC's xG numbers have been all season (summer slump aside), and how dominant LAFC were once Heung-Min Son paired up with Denis Bouanga

Pretty impressive!

Might we see something like this from Bayern Munich in 2026?🤔
November 22, 2025 at 2:04 AM
And while we haven't seen Alphonso Davies in a while, you can't forget how good he was under Vincent Kompany last year - his 2 top statistical comparables were Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes. Pretty good!

Excited to see how he slots back in when healthy
November 22, 2025 at 2:04 AM
Otherwise, Manuel Neuer remaining an elite sweeper as he nears his 40th birthday is quite something
November 22, 2025 at 2:04 AM
Naturally, a big force has been Harry Kane, who has been off to an absurd start to the season. Just look at this shot map - he's racking up elite opportunities, but is also scoring from some pretty ridiculous spots. What form he's been in this season

The #CanMNT XI is out for their friendly vs. 🇻🇪

Looks like:
Crépeau
Sigur-Jones-Cornelius-Laryea
Eustáquio-Koné
Buchanan-Nelson
Oluwaseyi-J. David

We get a debut for Alfie Jones, as expected - Cornelius returns to the XI after a knock, while Crépeau and Nelson are in for the final game of 2025
November 19, 2025 at 12:28 AM
It will be interesting to see what the #CanMNT's XI looks like tomorrow, as they look to finish 2025 on a high note vs. Venezuela

Alfie Jones and Maxime Crépeau will start - but who replaces Ali Ahmed? Does Promise David get a look? Will Nathan Saliba start in midfield?

Lots of questions...
November 17, 2025 at 8:29 PM
By comparison, here are stills from that Guatemala game, and tonight's Ecuador game, to show the difference in the #CanMNT's press, and how they were much more conservative and cautious down a player

It made a big difference!
November 14, 2025 at 5:36 AM
For context, enjoy this one minute stretch of the #CanMNT showing incredible discipline without the ball, as they balanced pressing up in a 4-2-3 and sitting back in a 4-4-1

The #CanMNT XI is out for their friendly vs. Ecuador

Looks like:
DSC
Sigur-Waterman-Miller-Laryea
Eustáquio-Koné
Buchanan-Ahmed
Oluwaseyi-J.David

As expected, a strong team for a stiff test. Big challenge to break down this🇪🇨 low block

Cornelius has a knock, Larin is injured, Jones is ineligible

Given Ecuador's defensive excellence, and then Venezuela's struggles (they've brought a VERY young team to this camp as they start a generational shift), I spitballed 2 #CanMNT lineups that we could see this window - I feel pretty confident about the Ecuador one, but curious to see about Venezuela
November 13, 2025 at 12:47 AM
Even in a snowstorm, Atlético Ottawa didn't stop their wing backs from flying up - they also never stopped dribbling or playing 1-2s, either

I dove into how they stayed true to their game model while adapting to the snowy conditions in the #CanPL final, for the CPL👇
