Everything else seems identical. It's weird to have two light types. I was thinking maybe one is a legacy light type and one is true to USD specs but I wonder which one. And the light strength difference is also quite confusion. Might be a bug though. Not sure.

I thought so too but they're not. If you set the Exposure at 1 on Distant Light LOP and then the same Exposure at Light LOP type Distant you won't get the same light strength. You'll have to set Light LOP type Distant at Exposure 15 to match the strength of light from Distant Light LOP.

Peter @petercubic.bsky.social, do you know why there are two distant lights in Karma? One as a Type in Light LOP and also another one as dedicated Distant Light LOP? And which one should be used?

I still wish to see someday such courses integrated into the documentation. It would add so much value when you can also see visual examples and functionality explained where you're actually looking for it — inside the documentation or specific nodes.

Also, it would be nice to learn how to use OCIO Transform under Pixel Oracle settings. Some people claim it's important to get a cleaner image faster. I did some tests and I can see the difference but I would like to hear more about this workflow and learn if I do it right or not.

Caustics optimization example was very "synthetic". I would love to see a more practical use case because so far as I gathered it's still very expensive to render caustics in Karma and make them clean. Do you expect caustics get better/faster in Karma?

I'd love to hear more on good practices optimizing Variance minimum samples and noise threshold for common scenarios. Like for example Pixar usually using 32 minimum samples, but 4096 maximum in production and control the quality with adaptive noise threshold.

I rarely use Karma CPU, so I'm curious what is the purpose of Path Traced convergence mode? How is it helpful in production?

Although, I'm very familiar with Karma I liked watching your course. It's definitely a huge help to newer Karma users or anyone wanting to refresh their knowledge. I have a few notes/questions thought I'd like to have a conversation about.

I'm just waiting for the desktop experience. Everything else is there already.

Also, nice to have would be better prototyping tools.

It's a very impressive render engine Vladimir! But what is the end goal here? Is it a glorified tech demo or are you planning to release a commercial version sometime in the future?
