TONIGHT | Back to sub-freezing again! 🥶

BE CAREFUL THOUGH! Freezing fog is possible overnight into early Friday morning. Slick spots on roadways, bridges, overpasses are possible. 🚗

Okay, after looking at the numbers...

Lumberton breaks the daily record of 11, set back in 1980 while ALSO tying the all-time low of -1 back in January 1985.

This while Florence breaks the previous record set back in 1980.

Myrtle Beach ties the record of 20 set back in 1945!

Negative ONE?! If this is legitimate, that breaks the Lumberton low temperature record for today by a mile while also tying all time record lows set back in January 1985!

OUCH! THREE DEGREES in Lumberton! Many other spots below 10 degrees! It just doesn't get cold like this very often at all! Thankfully the wind is less of an issue this morning. 🥶 🥶 🥶

Wow... Look at that temperature divide.

27° in Laurinburg, 45° in Georgetown.

THIS is why liquid rain is expected along the coast. Meanwhile, concerns for ice continue for Scotland, Robeson, Marlboro, Darlington, Florence & Dillon counties.

Not out of the woods just yet.

While snow is looking less likely for our area 😭 , the possibility raised an interesting question: How often have we seen measurable snow more than once in a 12-month time-frame?

10 times it has happened in Myrtle Beach. 18 times in Florence. And 44 times in Lumberton!

Measurable snow is sadly not looking like a realistic chance anymore for parts of our area.

That being said, some flakes could still fall on the back-end of what will be a mainly cold rain event. I'll foolishly hope for this, but I cannot forecast snow in good faith. Stay warm!

After warm weather on Saturday (possibly record warmth inland), it finally gets colder once again from Monday onward.

40s and 50s for highs with 20s and 30s for lows. Winter is still young.

THIS WEEKEND | Warmer first half. Cooler second half. There is a low chance of rain late Saturday into early Sunday as a cold front moves through. That front is what helps to drop temperatures for Sunday.

Ah, finally some fun to talk about!

While obviously, Winter weather is never a guarantee, signs point to an interesting feature approaching late next week.

A low pressure system along with MUCH colder air. This is a pattern favorable for East coast Winter storms.

Tomorrow will be SOGGY thanks to an approaching front. Don't count on it being sunny until Sunday as high pressure builds back in.

Cloudy skies and cool temperatures are expected as a cold front approaches. Some rain is possible after midnight.
