It would be no surprise to anyone that the designer of the Transavia Airtruk (and the Bennett Airtruck), Luigi Pellarini, was also the brains behind the Aerauto PL.5C. It first took to the skies in 1949, but was refused registration as a car due to it being propellor-driven. Only one was ever made.

Was checking out this 1981 video commissioned by the Tasmanian Department of Main Roads, and whoever was responsible for the soundtrack turned a basic educational film into an ominous Oz New Wave gem. Brake in Fright!?

When the PZL M-15 has you beat in the beauty stakes, it's a tough pill to swallow! If the Airtruk doesn't appeal, its PL-11 Bennett Airtruck predecessor doesn't stand a chance!

Made famous by its outing in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, the Transavia PL-12 Airtruk was a unique agricultural aircraft. Despite Australian government reticence to support a domestic aviation industry, Transavia manufactured 138 between 1966 and 1993, and had plans for utility and military variants.

And just to cap off the S:AAB-Millennium crossover trivia, Millennium season 2's portentous comet was named P1997 Vansen-West, after S:AAB characters Shane Vansen and Nathan West.

Showrunners Glen Morgan and James Wong gave their alien antagonist a cameo in Millennium's 'The Curse of Frank Black' (Season 2, Episode 6), after Space: Above and Beyond was axed.

Found the old wireframe of the heavy fighter, originally set to the iconic PSX Demo 1 music by Harry Holmwood. More importantly, here's an interview by @darylbaxter.com with the man (on the back of @f4mi.bsky.social's excellent video about period UI magic) - darylbaxter.com/posts/harry-...

'The Nimrodian Club' story in particular, from Stewart Cowley and Charles Herridge's 'Great Space Battles'. Not only accompanied by a Peter Elson banger, but therein remains hope that the Musks and Thiels of this world tire of haunting us in favour of hunting each other for existential meaning.

Woke up to a torrent of rightfully indignant comments, but I should have done my due diligence and caught this. Go buy Granvir (store.steampowered.com/app/2743460/...), PUNIHI LOADER 2 (store.steampowered.com/app/1956960/...) or wishlist Drop Command instead (store.steampowered.com/app/1944880/...).

As an aside, did have the privilege of seeing both the US-2's predecessor (Shin Meiwa US-1A) and the last of its kind, the mighty Kawanishi H8K 'Emily'. The Kawanishi Aircraft Company rebranded as Shin Meiwa Industries in 1945, then as ShinMaywa in 1992.

Like all the designs in the film, the Schira-Dow is masterful.

Excuse the quick and dirty scans, but if you can get your hands on the magazine, you'll be treated not only to Plum's 1/32 Shira-DOW kit dolled up to the nines, but scratch-built Republic aircraft and more. The 1/700 scale scratch-built Prince of Minadan carrier is especially sumptuous.

Happy to report the newest edition of Scale Aviation is dedicated to Wings of Honnêamise. All the banger models; props, jets, aircraft carriers, rockets etc. Naturally, no wheeled fighting vehicles, but more than enough for Royal Space Force freaks.
