That quote is from the article not the budget. That said, the budget has a chart as to who benefits from the various proposals.

TWELVE TIMES?! No wonder Ford wants to stop cities from easily enforcing speed limits. globalnews-ca.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/globalne...

In order to convince the "law and order" premier to allow enforcement of the law, cities are promising to go easy on lawbreakers and give them a weeklong all-you-can-break pass? OK. www.thestar.com/news/gta/20-...

Well that was an entertaining game.

Honestly, what questions do you need to ask the speed cameras in cross-examination? What kind of gotcha moment are we expecting here?
September 26, 2025 at 11:27 PM
Fourth, it would be intolerable to post a police officer every three feet because you'd be constantly stopped. Speed cameras don't impede you in that way. Also, speed cameras don't require the same salary as police officers.
September 26, 2025 at 11:26 PM
Third, speed cameras only take your picture if you have broken the law. And even then the photographs aren't kept forever.
September 26, 2025 at 11:22 PM
Second, the law is the law. If the speed limit is 40 km/hr, but we don't believe tickets should be given unless drivers are going 50, we should follow the democratic process to change the speed limit. We shouldn't just refuse to enforce.

A couple of notes on this @acoyne.bsky.social column. First, speeding is an absolute liability offence. Intention/explanations aren't relevant. www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...

What is Ford talking about? Does he think the feds are trying to push a constitutional amendment through Parliament? www.thestar.com/politics/pro...

So now taxpayers will have to pay for traffic safety measures, rather than having law-breakers foot the bill through fines. How is that good for taxpayers? www.cp24.com/local/toront...

If Ford prohibits speed cameras outside schools, I really hope the city responds appropriately. Widenen sidewalks, raise crosswalks, remove driving lanes, and replace asphalt with the bumpiest cobblestone imaginable.

"When there is spectator interference with any ... batted ball, the ball shall be dead at the moment of interference".

So, a dead ball home run?

There's a "generally accepted contract" that you can drive 35% faster than the speed limit through a community safety zone and not get a ticket? Seriously? www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/0dd5744...
