A lot of work goes on behind the scenes at Mont Blanc Lines, adding, updating and correcting lines. For instance, this poster of the north face of Grandes Jorasses hadn't been touched in years until Gordon Smith got in touch with me [1/3]

This was one of the hardest single days of shooting in recent memory: a 5 hours hike in, including some hardcore bushwalking and non-trivial routefinding, abseiling in to the cliff with extreme exposure, then an endless jug back up [1/4]

Perú's Cordillera Blanca is famous for its crazy formations. Here, details of mushrooms near the summit of 6,345m Nevado Chopicalqui.

This was shot 15 years ago, before I could even think of making a living from climbing photography. I love revisiting old images and finding some buried gems!

A few shots from this evening, just a few hours after arriving in incredible Yangshuo, China. Like nowhere else I have ever been.

Let's try this again. And what better way to start than with a pretty sunset above Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore. There is probably the comet hiding behind a cloud, too.

I couldn't be happier to announce that the English edition of my book, Mont Blanc Lines, has just won the 2023 Mountain Image Award from the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival! I will be at the festival to receive the award and speak about the book on Nov. 2nd.

Aerial view of the southwest face of Everest and the south face of Lhotse, three days ago. Classic view, of course, though perhaps not from such a high vantage point. You can even see tiny Ama Dablam poking its summit out!

Kathmandu delivered this morning, once again. Amusingly, the best view of the day was from the tarmac waiting to board the plane, and not from 20,000ft next to Everest.

I'm a geologist and this isn't cute or funny. Rocks only climb trees like this when they're very stressed.

Little snapshot from Western Norway and its infamous Troll Wall, the tallest vertical face in Europe. After non-stop rain and fog since we arrived, finally a photo window opened up!

So my thing has kind of become drawing climbing lines all over the world. And as a new Canadian resident, Robson’s Emperor Face was at the very top of my list. Here is the result after a February aerial photoshoot!

So I spent a few days with the Isère PGHM (mountain rescue service) and the Airbus H145 D-3 helicopter last week, based in Alpe d’Huez. Here are a few early photos.
