Right now, the fast 50ms boot time is reliant on the next hop being FAT32, but with this new controller probing scheme, it should be possible to get close to that even when utilizing ext4 or btrfs.

It is theoretically possible to support very fast filesystem driver loading as long as you know ahead of time what partitions you need to probe for filesystems. Sprout, when loading drivers, essentially "reloads" the entire UEFI stack. Technically though, you can just probe specific controllers.
