You'd think folks would realize that the fact that Carville's statements are always made as a private citizen, and not as a member of the DNC, an elected official's comms team, or an active campaign, shows that he doesn't have much actual pull within the party these days.

He did get arrested in a season finale, which featured his coworkers trying to secret him out of the store before ICE could find him. He spent the beginning of the next season in detention, then was let out on bond while his case was going through the courts.

His being hired as a national TV analyst is one of the reasons why I actively dislike national TV baseball coverage. (In my ideal world, Fox and co. would bring on the local broadcast teams for the playoffs.)

It's been a while since I've revisited TOS, but isn't Kirk described as a "walking library" (or something to that effect) in the show? And (having just revisited TNG), Picard's skills as a diplomat were what gained him the most recognition within the Federation and among the other powers.

My summer job during my college years in the Sacramento Valley was inspecting the tomatoes that were going to the canneries for processing. Kissing bugs in the inspection samples was one of the things we had to be on guard for.
