🦇There is a good description of the probiotic project and some of the other approaches being tested to help combat white-nose syndrome in bats here:

We invited local wildlife artists who featured bats/night-themes to the NASBR/TWS joint social in Edmonton this past October (& TWS had artists present too). We didn't charge them for tables! Artists & delegates really enjoyed having them there. And yes, they were selling!

🦇Signs of white-nose syndrome in bats was first noted in upper New York State in 2006! So, the fungus was probably here a couple of years before that. www.whitenosesyndrome.org has tracked the spread. Estimates are that we have lost 10million+ bats since 2006.

It has been a big effort by a large number of people! We are thrilled that it is helping. We are now working with the biologists in AB and have applied it to two sites which we hope to follow next spring. The hope is we get funding to continue this work and actually mount a defense for western bats!
