I think they feel that polls don’t translate into consequences for them, whereas Trump is willing to impose consequences on them if they don’t bow and scrape.

A possibly heretical notion my brain has entertained is whether some portion of eternity might entail multiverse-style “what if” experiences that make up for missed opportunities in this life: to be the musician, explorer, etc. But would that cheapen the decisions and sacrifices we’ve made?
