The jokes are certainly more on-the-nose but I chuckled a lot during my playthrough regardless. It's just my kind of silliness. And I ended up liking Lego Horizon enough to 100% it, even.^^ Also, yes, climbable cliffs are marked by yellow Lego bars because of course they are.^^ #AlanarsGames2025

Finished Lego Horizon Adventures! Despite not having any experience of the source games, I had a blast with it.^^ The environments are positively gorgeous and some of the fights actually kinda challenging due to the number of enemies and projectiles you have to keep up with. #AlanarsGames2025

Looking back, I really didn't do much on PS5 this year and it certainly wasn't due to a lack of games (contrary to the meme, my backlog is sizable).^^" Rather, the Switch kept me occupied & once I got my hands on the Switch 2, that's pretty much where all my gaming happened for the rest of the year.

Finished Road Trip in Kirby Air Riders! Great mode for short sessions with a decent amount of variety to its stages. The challenge ramps up a little too late for my taste but the unlockable Very Hard mode very much addresses that flaw. Also, cool (true) ending! #AlanarsGames2025

One thing I do miss, however, is the ability to string multiple Air Ride tracks together to form a tournament/Mario Kart-esque cup. Single races are nice for quick online matches but in solo rounds, I'd like something more. Being able to race on one course for 99 laps just isn't the same.^^"

Also, Kirby Air Riders grabbed me more than I thought so far. Wasn't too keen on it after the Global Test Ride but not being limited to City Trial definitely makes a difference - especially having access to Road Trip.^^

It also got a sizable selection of characters, ranging from older ones like Rocket Racer and the Astronaut to newer figures like the Ninjago crew and a good chunk of completely random silly characters.^^

It's just first impressions but Lego Party seems to be actually good. Looks like the devs understood what makes Mario Party work, the two boards I played offered neat gimmicks and the minigames are fun. Although I do miss the wild card bonus stars for the end of the game to shake stuff up more.^^"
