Oh jeez, really? Well, I'm glad there's more conversations happening about BTC, but the fact that *this* is the reason Begich finally comes home to face (some) his constituents will give BTC an undeservedly bad rap in some people's views...

In your example, if Trump were to declare Milley a "traitor" and decide to prosecute him under UCMJ (since Milley is retired and Trump is CIC), one of the punishments for treason is death... It's a stretch, but SCOTUS has continued to allow the presidency such expansive leniency.

SCOTUS also ruled that all action taken in connection to the official act is also immune. From Sotomayor's dissent, "Orders the Navy’s Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival? Immune. Organizes a military coup to hold onto power? Immune. Takes a bribe in exchange for a pardon? Immune."
