We have a paper under review showing exactly this. People rate politicians as more trustworthy & competent when they engage in wrongness admission (publically stating that they were wrong & have changed their stance) vs. refusing to do so, and it is decidedly non-partisan.

Not sure why this irritates me, but the NY Times keeps referring to Beryl as "Tropical Storm" in headlines, but "Hurricane" in the details. Maybe referring to Beryl's state at the time of writing? But, what hit the Houston region was a Hurricane. TSs do not cause the destruction we saw in Houston.

We found that people like those who admit when they are wrong on social media. But, an interesting follow-up to this might be how people respond to reversals on "hot takes." It's an interesting dynamic.

We then looked at which topics predicted self-reported feelings of nostalgia.
January 10, 2024 at 3:13 PM
We took all of the studies we've run using the gold-standard nostalgia manipulation, the Event Reflection Task, and used meaning extraction to identify the common topics.

As the mindfulness scale that sparked this discussion, the purpose of this scale is for such exploratory/pilot purposes, not for full-scale investigations. It is not meant to be THE measure of narcissism A full-scale investigation using this scale will likely be extremely flawed.

The scale is useful for what it is useful for. It is not meant for clinical assessment or even extensive research. Any paper that solely uses this measure without the standard measures is going to be extremely flawed.
