Ellms Family Farm participated in the 21st Trees for Troops on Monday morning. Acting as the pickup point, volunteers loaded about 150 Christmas trees donated from a variety of organizations onto a FedEx truck. They are being delivered to military bases nationwide.

Firefighters were on scene at a structure fire on the 500 block of Second Street in Troy. According to the fire department, the fire broke out at 566 Second Street around 6:25 a.m. Friday morning.

Local food pantries and community organizations stocked up on free turkeys on Friday morning from R.J. Valente Gravel. Almost 2,000 turkeys were placed outside, ready to be loaded up and taken to those in need.

To put on the largest Thanksgiving meal distribution in the state, local labor unions have donated $25,000 to the Regional Food Bank. Their union members have also been asked to lend a hand to make it all happen later this month.
