"Nonresidents will pay a new $100/person fee (in addition to the usual entry fee) at 11 of the most visited Parks."

A foreign tourist in a rental car will have to pay $135 to visit Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon.

Pure abuse. Appalling.

The reality is that most of our cities are under-policed, given current levels of crime and disorder.

These violent street takeovers must be crushed with firm-but-fair responses.

Horrific.

Again, this is New York.

This is the sort of stuff that Venezuelans endured at CECOT — but in New York!

"The chatty subway rider allegedly responded by punching the victim several times in the face before stabbing him in the abdomen, according to police."

This is why so many of us are afraid to confront rule-breakers on transit and want more police.

This speaks to the intensity of the loathing many Americans feel toward Joe Biden -- both his failed presidency and his character flaws (especially selfishness).

New York City is not remotely comparable to an Iowa college town.

No major global city on this planet has free public transportation.

Following Charlie Kirk's tragic assassination, @jd-vance-1.bsky.social correctly encouraged everyone to lower the temperature.

Will he invite President Trump to do the same?

We should use words like "misogyny" and "attempted femicide" to describe what happened on the CTA train.

Why don't we use those words in this country? Women are routinely singled out by unstable, angry men for violence and abuse. We have a misogyny crisis.

WMATA bus fare evasion

2016: 3%
July-August 2025: 68%

If Democrats want transit systems as good as in Europe, East Asia, and Latin America, we have to insist our fellow citizens pay their fares and behave when riding.

I don't think all of Denmark's asylum policies are perfect, but they have prevented some of the social and political crises that have emerged in other European countries.

Notably, even UK Green voters express quite a bit of support when asked about specific policies.

It is extremely disturbing that a major DHS/Border Patrol official is enthusiastically responding to racist, ethnonationalist slop.

“More in Common asked about measures introduced in Denmark, after it was reported that the Home Office plans were in part inspired by recent Danish ones. The proposals are less popular with people currently supporting the Greens, but even this cohort is more in favour than opposed.”

Over the past decade, Chile's homicide rate has roughly doubled, and visible disorder and crime have risen alongside a massive increase in irregular migration. If center-left and centrist parties don't maintain order and control, voters will turn to radical right-wing populists.

Don’t you think there should be a greater sense of urgency about understanding why 40% of women aged 15-44 want to permanently leave the United States?

Doesn’t this reflect a society in deep trouble?

We need to figure out what’s wrong.

It’s certainly a coherent argument, but Biden was able to leverage an asymmetric power dynamic to his advantage with Mexico while Starmer will be in the opposite position with France/EU (UK as the weaker party). If he could barely get 1in/1out, how will he get a deal with almost unlimited returns?
