Or maybe I just need to think of it more like I’m adding new tools to my art toolbox. I’m going from using a sawzall to a miter saw. The lines are cleaner, but if what I’m framing doesn’t go anywhere, what’s the point?

I guess before I started making art myself I convinced myself the technical skill was why art spoke to me the way it did. I guess I’m just now discovering that isn’t necessarily the case.

Maybe that’s why I don’t feel particularly proud of anything I make. Or if it does feel like I accomplished something, it doesn’t last long because now that is the new baseline I have to surpass.
