I've been writing all my life but it took me 40 years to have a project. Working on my first book. To what end? We'll see.

This account to connect with writers, book lovers, readers, and all things literary.
I'm taking an online course for a required certification and it is...so bad. I put in full effort, no AI. Feedback is minimal. When I did need help, the teacher gave me feedback that directly contradicted content in the course. I am now doing the minimum bc this is literally just a check box for me

Well then I guess I'll stop toying with that idea to use song lyrics as an epigraph then 😬 Wasn't too committed to the idea but good to know I should just scrap it entirely

Is there not a certain length that's considered fair use? How is it different than quoting another book and citing your sources?

I've switched to Duck Duck Go. Occasionally still use Google when the DDG results seem a little wonky; maybe like a couple times a month.

Now AI is trying to replace COFFEE if this is not the clarion call to burn it all down I don't know what is

And you gotta decide which risks are right for you. I know I could get clobbered with a deadly disease; but I also know how much harder I got clobbered when I hadn't been sick for 2 years. I know I'll get dragged for that choice but that's my answer to your question 🤷‍♀️

and the sickness levels that hit us after 2 years of non exposure were brutal. With little kids, if they never get sick, I think you're just kicking the can down the road...I think it's an unfortunate reality of how our immune system evolved that never getting sick also has its risks

I get sick 1-2 times a year. My husband gets sick constantly, but...he also doesn't take other steps to protect his health. And to be honest, this is one reason I don't mask as much in my day to day. The sickness seems at a normal level...

After 2 years of no illness 2020-22, we got sick a lot, and badly, when my youngest started TK at 4. After that year, it's settled into fairly normal amounts of sickness for everyone.

I actually woke up thinking this morning how much richer I am than these bozos. I would pity them if the voids inside them weren't causing them to harm other people so extensively.

The other thing about minivans is that they are actually shockingly expensive, so a lot of people are going to upsize into an SUV.

And to be clear, I think we can & should make sedans that can carry 3 kids. I just have been shocked since I've had kids how not convenient the whole car seat thing is
November 9, 2025 at 1:43 AM
I think they are safer because the front ends aren't so blunt and high, though they're still heavy.

And, if you need a bigger hard working vehicle, a minivan is where it's at. You see someone with a minivan and you know that person gets shit done even with their crappy gas mileage

Oh and "people shouldn't have 3 or more kids" is not the kind of messaging that would change any minds on this so let's not ok?

Exactly. The standard is "the religion the supreme Court agrees with."

Minivans are the true working vehicle of the suburbs. You see someone with a minivan and you know they do some DIY stuff around the house

One idea is car designers could design a car that actually accommodated children. Babies and toddlers might always need a car seat, but you could have a 5 point harness in the rear seat and design it so it's safe for kids, say, 5 and up
