My Australian editor would say, "Just pick one style and stick to it per project at the very least." But I picked American spelling for a game set in Britain 🤔 I can't decide between mom or mum because some British folks like the Brummies still use mom, as the vowel is a holdover from older English.

Reminds me when one localization agency put my Traditional Chinese into a machine translation and spit out Simplified Chinese and charged full price for translation 🙄 saying they did it from scratch.
