Barbara Rose Johns was only 16 when she led a walkout in 1951 to protest horrendous conditions at her segregated high school for Black students in rural Farmville, Virginia.

I’m teaching an intro methods course for preservice ELA teachers next semester. And, tbh, Idk what to do about *waves hands* all this. How do I prepare the next generation to teach in this world? What does literacy mean in a dying democracy? What does it mean to teach at the end of a nation?
