yes, exactly. when i was on a jury, the only instructions we got were what the judge decided to give us, which were quite limited and boiled down to: here is a document, check the checkbox that matches your decision and sign it. we had no way to know if that was the right or wrong way to do it.

foreperson is just a regular juror the other jurors agreed could be their voice, but they don't know anything more about the way things are supposed to proceed than any other random juror
