The New York Times discovers its conscience when the murdered journalist isn't Palestinian eporters Without Borders (RSF) released its annual  round-up  on 9 December, documenting 67 journalists  killed  worldwide over the past year. Gaza accounted for nearly half of them. RSF reports that 43 percent of all journalists slain in 2025 were  Palestinians  killed in Gaza by  Israeli  forces in targeted attacks, a scale the organisation says is "unprecedented in recent history". Since October 2023, Israel has killed close to 220 journalists, leading the press freedom watchdog to describe it as "the worst enemy of journalists". Yet, despite the severity of these findings, major western news outlets that sanctimoniously champion press freedom and human rights found little space for the deadliest year in RSF's records, much less that the overwhelming majority of those journalists were Palestinian. Legal team presents new evidence of torture of Palestinian prisoners to ICC New evidence regarding the torture of Palestinian prisoners whose mutilated bodies were returned by Israel was presented at the International Criminal Court by a legal team representing the victims of the genocide in Gaza. Al Jazeera Arabic reported that evidence regarding the targeting of journalists was added to the ongoing series of legal efforts to prosecute Israel in the International Court since 2008. According to the report, documented medical evidence was presented by doctors and forensic experts through detailed reports, photos, videos, and family testimonies.

Gaza death toll rises to 68,865 The death toll in the Gaza Strip since the start of Israel's genocide in October 2023 has risen to 68,865, the Palestinian health ministry announced. The majority of victims are women and children. The ministry added on Sunday that the number of wounded had increased to 170,670.  It said the bodies of seven victims arrived at hospitals in the Gaza Strip over the last 24 hours, including three recently killed Palestinians, three recovered from under the debris, and one who succumbed to their wounds. Since the ceasefire took effect on 11 October, 236 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and at least 600 others wounded.

Israeli forces arrest 40 Palestinians across West Bank The Palestinian Prisoners' Club on Monday said that Israeli forces arrested 40 Palestinians overnight in various areas of the occupied West Bank.  Israeli forces also stormed the town of Al-Funduq, east of Qalqilya in the northern West Bank and demolished a Palestinian home, Al Jazeera Arabic reported.  Palestinian sources also reported that a number of school students suffered suffocation from tear gas inhalation during a raid by Israeli forces on the town of Al-Khader, south of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank.

Israel shells Gaza after ratifying ceasefire agreement Israeli  forces shelled areas across the Gaza Strip on Friday, despite a ceasefire taking effect following the approval of a deal by both Israel and Hamas to "end the war." The truce officially began in the early hours of Friday, after receiving final approval from the Israeli government. However, air strikes, artillery fire, and gunshots were reported in Gaza City and Khan Younis on Friday morning. There were no immediate reports of injuries. As of Friday morning, Israeli tanks also remained positioned along al-Rashid Road, blocking the return of displaced people from southern Gaza to the north. Under the terms of the agreement, troops are required to withdraw from the road and allow displaced residents to return within 24 hours. One child killed every hour in Gaza war: Save the Children Save the Children says that on average at least one Palestinian child has been killed every hour in Gaza during nearly 23 months of war. Figures from Gaza authorities show more than 20,000 children – about two percent of the territory’s child population – have been killed since October 2023. Among them are at least 1,009 babies under the age of one, with nearly half born and killed during the war. “This is a shameful statistic – a horrific new low in a war characterised by a constant stream of them,” said Ahmad Alhendawi, Save the Children’s regional director for the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe. “Worst of all, we saw this coming. Systematic attacks on children’s homes, playgrounds, schools and hospitals, starvation by design – the world is doing nothing to stop it.”
