One of my favourite books is The Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien and there are multipage footnotes filled with glorious nonsense, utterly irrelevant to the story, but 100% essential to the book!
The audiobook was especially good as it saves me hearing my atrocious Irish accent in my head 😅
