The team at Oregon DOJ is working every to keep communities safe and uphold Oregon’s values.

1. A court ordered the federal government to return the search-and-rescue helicopter to Newport.

2. We hosted a public safety roundtable with statewide law enforcement to improve community safety.

3. We sent a letter demanding federal officers stop using excessive force against Oregonians.

This policy would strip about $39 million from Oregon programs and put people at real risk of returning to homelessness.

The letter details a months-long pattern of excessive force by DHS personnel. It also serves as formal notice that we - with 3 DAs - are actively monitoring federal conduct and will investigate any case where a federal officer appears to be acting outside the reasonable scope of their duties.
