Notably by disregarding the way manga normally shows flashbacks: entirely black corners, Astolpho's past is shown to us as if we were reliving the events ourselves.

Jun Mochizuki's work feels perpetually underrated even though she's a very successful manga artist at this point. She introduces a large number of characters and always make sure they make a strong impression. It's also certainly not a coincidence that Vanitas has two crucial black characters.

OddTaxi is a show I'd wanted to get around to for a while. A Twin Peaks inspired mystery that looks honestly fantastic and I was already hooked but episode 4 features an incredible tearing down of gacha games as the predatory and frankly evil mechanism they are

Finally getting around to watching the second half of Vanitas after I found the first half abysmally slow. This second half has been much better paced (as a result of adapting more volumes) as well as getting into the meat of things. Dominique's flashback is characteristic, unfiltered Mochizuki

Togashi loves Dragon Quest, so obviously the part that is all about commerce and the most blatant part of Togashi talking to its audience about being careful on the internet and what you buy online features Literal Torneko Taloon from Dragon Quest IV

A number of iconic panels in this fight, but in my opinion nothing quite sears into your eyes than this double page when Vegeta gets hit by the Genki Dama. The kind of page that makes a point for its art form

The designs of 1 also lend much easier to sprite works, and the designs of 2 are just plain bad.

Xenosaga III is much more of a game than the two previous episodes but I'll mostly remember it for the line "You are a U.R.T.V. Don't call me that!" and how it made me think of this meme
