After I paid to have my first few songs mixed by someone else, it gave me so much insight into how professionals would mix my music and helped me improve my skills. It took another 10 years before I started releasing my music with my mixes, and another 5 for my own masters.

When I first started 20+ years ago, I tried doing it all myself. I learned that even though I came from a mixing background, mixing my own electronic music was way more challenging because it gave me too much mental room to think about "fixing" things instead of just focusing on the mix. (1/?)

The benefits in the spread of information still outweigh the detriments from the spread of disinformation/misinformation. For now. If the global modsphere can keep it that way...

As a nearly 40 year old millennial, I've thought a lot about this. Especially since I am a massive nerd and have been on the internet since 1994. My personal conclusion is that the platform is not to blame for the content.

Sometimes I forget to bring my phone out with me at night because I set it somewhere in the morning and forget it exists. But in my case, it's because engagement with creative activities (music/lasers/visuals) pretty much torches my desire for external contact anyway.
