im so glad to see theres more context as to what does happen to fa's parents. the only thing that was said about them in the anime was them getting kidnapped by the titans but here they have to forced labour. gosh.
"i was suspected by the titans because i was a friend of the person who stole the gundam mk-ii. both of my parents were arrested and sent to do forced labour. it was then that captain bright rescued me." fa never expected to find kamille at amman, but there he was. she doted on him instinctively, out of a feeling of security.

the subtly of implementing ableism here. like kamille is complaining about being forced to become a soldier but also to be given tasks that he cannot bring himself to do bc of the disabilities he has is jsut. i need to hold him
[an adult... i don't want to become an adult. although im not entirely sure, since some people are in a hurry to grow up. that may be true, but its not good to assume that just because you can do something, that other people can do it as well, and force it onto them. in the first place, im still just a boy...

the amuro and kamille comparisons are becoming more intense for the latter who again is given no choice here. its a neat parallel to amuro who too had no choice but to keep fighting in the gundam
it was a period where the argama was seeking skilled pilots. the entire crew expected that kamille bidan, the boy who came to them in a stolen gundam, might turn out to be a second amuro ray. for that reason, he was given vigorous flight training in order to evaluate his abilities.

quattro isn't even giving kamille a choice in this hes just like throwing him into space and hoping for the best.

i also rly like how abrupt the second novels starts. since we ended on kamille finding his father dead in the first one something about it not being said makes it feel so eerie
today captain quattro bajeena summoned me for flight training with the gundam mk-ii. he said, "this is how you fly in formation when you're in space!" even though i never wanted to become a pilot...
