It never snows in California unless you're way up in the mountains. Expensive, but also a lot of job opportunities. Gotta get used to the 100F+ heat waves unless you're right by the ocean too.

Probably why they made respeccing a thing in the later games. I have almost no newgame+ files in Dark Souls 1 but half a dozen different characters with different builds.

I used to play the shareware demo of the PC version called Exhumed, which was reworked into a standard Build engine FPS. I think the PS1 game was more of a first person Metroidvania?

As someone who entered their 40s not too long ago, I definitely feel this. I think a lot of it can be chalked up to internalized ageism, it's easy to feel like you're in an outgroup just from getting older.

What really sucks is those kinds of mechanics invariably result in a less fulfilling and enjoyable game experience. And what sucks even more than that is publishers usually force game developers to put them in their games even if they don't want to.
