The thought of PPT getting an OFFICIAL localization was UNHEARD OF. But it happened. It felt like a miracle it happened. It has its flaws, but it's the one that put Puyo back on the map for overseas players.

But due to the whole Tetris Ultimate licensing nonsense at the time, we sighed and believed it won't be imported because of the whole licensing shenanigans.

It was a crossover nobody expected, and people ate it up because it brought together the Tetris players. I have a brother that enjoyed the Puyo world but sucked at Puyo, and he was sold on the crossover. The import market made enough waves to be noticed by the team.

...because the one Puyo mention was just an achievement name. We didn't even get a single Puyo, when the Japanese version got a Garbage Puyo as a stand-in for the Blowfish (i.e. the Banana Peel from Mario Kart).

And there was also a whole lot of NOTHING in terms of cameos. If they had to reference Puyo anywhere, it was the Puyos themselves. Not Arle, not Amitie, not even Carbuncle. Just the Puyos. Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed also left a bit of a bad taste in our mouths...

At least from my POV, the fans were resigned to having their series be forever Japan-only, with fan translations being the only way to enjoy the story because of the obvious language barrier, and even those are few-and-far in-between. You could count the translation teams with one hand.

To further supplement what has already been stated in the previous threads, you'd also have to consider how *little* we got in-between Fever 1 and PPT1. Fever 1 released in 2004, and PPT1 was 2017. A whole THIRTEEN YEARS of having absolutely nothing, aside from the sporadic Tsu re-release.
