Bella Coco is one of very many amazing crochet tutorial makers on YouTube, I recommend her and TLYarncrafts if you ever have any need for professional visual guidance.

Usually on packs they tell you what you're going to be crocheting in (term wise).

So it depends on terms! Is it US terms or UK terms?

US terms I can help with, but UK terms I'd have to give a chart for.

So usually when it comes to kits they give you a generous amount to work with so you can weave in ends! Usually about an extra foot or so longer unless there's multiple ends needing to be weaved in.

I would say a good rule of thumb is at least 3-4 inches of excess for each tail.
