Learning in public.
Curious about maps, memory, and meaningful learning. 🌍

A country’s size, location, borders, capital — anything.
Maps have a way of humbling people.

I’ve just updated the map quiz to improve clarity and make selecting islands easier, sharing a short clip below.
Would love thoughts on whether this feels more approachable.

The idea is that the map shows mastery, lets users favorite places, shows weak areas, and links directly to study sections.
If you were using this feature, what would you want to see?

Could be a country’s size, location, borders, or even a capital city.
Maps have a way of humbling you.

Functionally they work, but I’m not happy with how these features look on the map yet.
Curious how others think these should be visualized.
Feedback very welcome 👀

I refined the Afaq logo to better reflect what the app’s becoming — less “map tool,” more “learning game.”
Still exploring the balance between playful and clean, but this feels closer.
Thoughts welcome 🙂

Every day, users get a small set of tasks:
• review
• take a test
• drill one weak area
It’s meant to remove decision fatigue and keep learning consistent.
Sharing a clip below 👇
(also… brand update coming soon 👀)

The scoring system is starting to behave — not perfect, but definitely more consistent.
In the clip are examples of:
• a near-correct path
• a very off-path attempt
It’s already feeling real.
Curious what people think 👀

The idea — follow a river’s path from A to B — get rated on how accurately you traced it.
Scoring is... not behaving😅
Here's an early look, I’m curious how people feel about drawing/precision tasks in learning games.

Mine was DR Congo — no idea it was connected to that many places.

You’re given a country to find on the map — the game goes on until you miss.
I’m considering a global leaderboard for longest streak / best time, but curious how people feel about that.

Always open to thoughts🌍

Countries highlight briefly, then disappear — and you try to recall where they were.
You can scale it from 6–12 countries and choose 15, 30, or 45 seconds.
I tried one in the clip — curious how well you’d do 👀

You get 60 seconds to identify as many countries as you can by tapping them on the map.
Posting it in web view because it’s easier to show the full map this way.
This gets chaotic fast 😅
My score is in the clip — curious if anyone here can beat it

Learning is so tied to timing.
Curious how people here handle spaced review or memory decay in the things they learn.

It surfaces one meaningful thing to review each day without feeling overwhelming.
I tried today’s one in the clip — I’m curious if anyone here could do it faster 👀😅

Some people want challenges.
Some want structure.
Some want freedom.
Designing around all three at once is… surprisingly fun.
How do you learn best?

It now creates a custom quiz based on areas you’re weaker in — a small step toward making geography learning more personal and meaningful.
Clip below.
As always, curious to hear what feels intuitive, and what you’d improve 🌍

• Fixed a tricky issue in the Egypt governorates map quiz
• Polished the early review system
Putting the clips in the replies — feedback is always welcome, especially around clarity and learning flow 🌍

The map quiz for Egypt’s governorates isn’t rendering correctly, and I’m trying to sort out the projection / SVG issues.
Posting two clips in case anyone has thoughts or suggestions.

A few clips in the replies: basic lessons, map learning, the review system, and a deeper look at Egypt’s governorates.
Still early, but excited with the direction.

Geography was always taught to me as trivia. But when you learn how regions connect, everything starts to make sense — history, culture, borders.
Afaq is my attempt to make geography feel connected and intuitive again.
Grateful to #buildinpublic 🌍
