This is why sometimes transphobes are okay with femboys and not trans women - because to them the former doesn’t destabilise the sex category of “man”, which is what they ultimately value

What transphobes actually mean when they say this shit is “why can’t we subscribe to the primacy of assigned at birth sex categories as immutable and distinct properties by which people can be ordered and categorised by society” which is basically the ideology of cisness

And I just don’t think using social perception/gender presentation/gendered activities as a yardstick for one’s intrinsic identity is a good thing because their meanings change with context & time. So there will always be an ambiguity for transphobes to push on

A sex-gender binarist may respond w/ something like “because the gender of x is man/woman” to which the hypothetical good faith transphobe can reply with “so why can’t x remain as a man/woman while engaging in feminine/masculine activities/presentation”
