it requires time and effort and money to coordinate ILL requests, to pack books and ship them, and to process and keep track of loans.

and it requires mutual trust.

ILL is such an extraordinary example of the goodness of mutuality that I remain a little astonished that it exists.

Postwar patterns set up by GI bill and govt. subsidy of roads/airports vs. strangulation of railroads are harder to get out of here because they fit the cultural sensibilities of people whose votes count for more than transit users.

As a reader I like both genre labels easier to see at a glance vs when stick in spine label and agree with consistency of font and placement vs books themselves

Heard @mta.info chair on @thebrianlehrershow.bsky.social this morning and it’s obvious he never actually uses OMNY regularly . He incorrectly said problems with OMNY overcharging have been resolved and then told caller who asked why transfers didn’t show up as they do with MetroCard to go online !
