Sort of off-topic, but what you said reminded me of an idea I had for a version of Frankenstein where Victor is so hopelessly optimistic (or bottomlessly egotistical) that his experiment worked that he believes the Creature to be as beautiful as he envisioned.

I was hoping it would be a deep red like some of the artwork I’ve seen of Ted’s burning touch, but the green flame is cool too.

He loves his wife, but he loves her in a way that she wants nothing to do with. As if she’s less of a person and more like that shred of good in him that he doesn’t want to let go of that attracted her in the first place.
