43 years ago today, one of the greatest singles of all time was released. Alice and Floorshow were full of razor guitars, storming rhythms and cuttingly brilliant lyrics. Seldom matched.

Picked up the anniversary edition of Lush's Gala this week. I've got the original and all of the original records it features, but buying these beautifully packaged reissues is the only way of reviving the excitement I used to feel on buying a new 4AD record back in the days when it was my religion.

Farewell Mick Ralphs. Forget Bad Company, Mick was the original guitar god in Mott the Hoople and they never really recovered from his departure. His guitar solo at the end of this cover is so thoughtful and majestic. You were a major part of my life. Cheers mate.

Farewell Mick Ralphs. Forget Bad Company, Mick was the original guitar god in Mott the Hoople and they never really recovered from his departure. His guitar solo at the end of this cover is so thoughtful and majestic. You were a major part of my life. Cheers mate.
