I remember during the Covid pandemic walking a strongly anti-vax member of my congregation through our cemetery pointing out how the number of children’s graves plummeted after the 1950’s. Why? Widespread vaccination programs.
Just read more antivaxxer garbage about replacing vaccines with healthy food and exercise to boost immune systems while more babies die of measles.

Vaccinating widely is how we protect Littles too young for vaccines - no exercise will protect them.

WTF with these people

When so many names and faces are blacked out in the Epstein Files, the only ones left to face public scrutiny are the victims who have already been abused enough.

We are spending $1 trillion every year on the military. That's more than the next NINE nations combined.

Meanwhile, millions lack health care & we have the highest childhood and senior poverty rate of almost any major country.

Congress needs to get its priorities straight.

3/ THEN we are told that heaven’s choir sees this as glorious and proclaims it as good news for all people.

THEN the first ones to receive that good news are those at the very bottom of the social hierarchy.

That is as political a story as you’re going to get.

We are told before anything else, who is “in charge” and who appears to hold all the power.

Only THEN are we are told that God enters into this world, making a home among the very ones oppressed by the injustice of those in power.

A reminder to those who believe “Christmas shouldn’t be political”…the Gospel Christmas Eve begins not with Joseph, Mary, angels or shepherds but with Caesar Augustus and Quirinius the governor of Syria.

Christ wasn’t born into a vacuum but into a real political system affecting real people. /1
