564,000 rural homes and businesses hooked up to fastest broadband in the world.

The scepticism/cynicism around it was staggering, from 5G-is-better 😛 to waste-of-money arguments.

Yet here we are. Broadband barely an issue anymore. The phrase ‘digital divide’ is mostly retired.

I actually had to look that up (you’re right — but I absolutely wouldn’t have known that!)

The moat common trope is that since Ireland isn’t a ‘proper’ country, it couldn’t competently handle the building and running of a nuclear facility. Which is saying we’re not able to do big things.

Respectfully, it isn’t. If it were, we’d all just used the cheapest fossil fuels we could find — clearly that shouldn’t be the priority. Surely has to be a mixture between climate, cost, safety, reliability and other stuff?

Not either/or, though? Is there a good reason why solar panels shouldn’t be massively subsidised (even if it costs billions) in Ireland, regardless of nuclear? This is a long term infrastructure issue with likely no single answer.
