In response to calls for exceptions to abortion bans to be widened in scope or be further clarified, anti-abortion lawmakers and attorneys general have argued that it is not policies, but rather the physicians who are at fault in situations where care has been delayed or denied. For instance, in the case Zurawski v. Texas, where women facing dangerous pregnancy complications who had been denied emergency abortion care and two OB-GYNs asked Texas courts to clarify the scope of the medical emergency exceptions in the state’s abortion bans, attorneys for the state of Texas argued that it was not the state’s abortion bans that prevented plaintiffs from receiving timely care. Instead, he argued that physicians committed malpractice and are at fault and suggested that people should sue their physicians, not the state, when they are unable to receive timely abortion care in life-threatening medical emergencies.

You want clinicians to be able to go out there and vocalize concerns, even if you're wrong, doing it because you care, not doing it because there's a financial incentive that governs the process. Much of what we hear from the special interests are financially motivated desires to include items for payment that we don't find enough evidence for. But there are some places where we have not done our job well that we can do better. For example, we do pay for medications as soon as Martin Makary, who is spectacular as the FDA commissioner, as soon as they approve them, we pay for them. Jay Bhattacharya, a wonderful leader at the NIH, does a lot of research to help identify if protocols work or not. By the way, he's a doctor but a health economist. He did a lot of the early work when we had the incidence of spread of COVID, was criticized for it with the [Great] Barrington Declaration because he believed that we could do better. But they were both canceled, as I was, because we were willing to speak up. I'm asking more of you to run that gauntlet, to do the same thing.

The most striking example is Harry Truman’s health care proposal in the 1940s. This is the first and really only time a sitting U.S. president gave a full-throated endorsement of a single-payer-style, truly universal national health insurance plan. The American Medical Association were the top opponents of the plan. They hired a PR firm called Campaigns Inc. that rose to fame in California, helping to defeat a statewide universal health insurance plan. The American Medical Association put an incredible amount of money behind this at the time: $3.5 million. In today’s dollars, that’s about $40 million. It was the largest lobbying campaign the nation had ever seen — and it worked.

Shitter is worse than Facebook now. I saw FB go downhill from 2015 to 2020. I said "Fuck it" and deactivated FB almost 5 years ago.

Twitter was a valuable platform for San Diego Comic Con. The useful pages have been dead on Shitter over a year. There's no point anymore and deactivated today. 1/2
