We don't have today an easy way with existing tools to back these answers with data (or even answer them accurately in the first place in less that 10 mins without a lot of involved data work).

To try to make you also fall in love with the vision, try to do the following exercise: try answering the questions of "how have Steph Curry changed the NBA since he joined the league?"

I am so grateful to @haunventures.bsky.social and Lightshift for believing in our vision and giving us the chance to disrupt how data is discovered, processed, consumed, and sold. 🧵

TL;DR, stay safe and take good care of all of your devices (employees and loved ones) if you don't want your data to be stolen by some bad guys somewhere around the world.

And as always, follow me for more @baselightdb.bsky.social insights like this one:

I wanted to wrap up my analysis checking what sectors have been more prone to be attacked. Again to no ones surprise web applications and government systems are the preferred for attackers, followed by finance.

But wait, to no ones surprise, the ones that end up disclosing the most sensitive data are "inside jobs" and "lost devices".

Maybe the dataset isn't as complete as I thought? In any case, I decided to go deeper into the data. What would you say is the most common method used by attackers? You guessed it, plain old hacks.

Let's first have a look at how the number of data breaches and records lost have evolved globally throughout the years.

We can see how there's an upward trend since 2004. There are some outliers and the trend is not as obvious as I would have expected
