RL Stine! I loved the Goosebumps books as a kid! Choose your own ending was revolutionary!!

Me too! I was skeptical a bit initially to be honest, since having multiple aliens sometimes throws off the immersion for me, but it was really well done.

I've also found graphic novels to be an excellent way to get the nephews and nieces reading - perhaps Nimona, and the Dog Man books (for the younger one). Or just take them shopping!

As an uncle who has done the same, try Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin, if you think they might enjoy it (some 10-12 year olds are advanced readers!). There are some gorgeous editions (e.g., the one with Charles Vess illustrations) out there which also reinforce the book as a pretty object!

They can’t make computers as intelligent as humans, but they can make humans as unthinking as computers.

It shouldn't have! But at least we can agree on Dilip Kumar and Dharmendra, etc. and the songs :)

Totally the same, if someone gave me a reading list I’d almost subconsciously rebel and read something else 😂 random discovery guided by an awareness of interest has always served me well. To this day in a virtual form. That’s how I discovered you!
