Around 280,000 people in Aotearoa have ADHD, that's more than the population of Wellington City.
That deserves serious attention.

With 5 days to go, the ADHD Inquiry petition is nearing close.

It asks Parliament to initiate a Select Committee inquiry into systemic harm to people with ADHD across health, education, employment and justice, and the need for a national strategy.

While ADHD sits within the Health portfolio, DPMC confirmed no ministry has formal cross-government oversight of ADHD.

Health NZ confirms it is not responsible for implementing the ADHD Clinical Principles Framework.

Their role in relation to the 2026 prescribing changes is limited to updating clinical guidance via HealthPathways and supporting awareness through a national webinar.

Children with ADHD were considered as a priority cohort for the Social Investment Fund, though this proposal did not proceed following Ministerial directions. Relevant Ministerial material is now being proactively released.
